For years Marathi-language films failed to catch up with the growing popularity of the Hindi film industry of Bollywood. But not anymore! The Marathi language cinema is making a huge come back this year. For example the movie "Harishchandrachi Factory", which was directed by theatre-veteran Paresh Mokashi, was nominated to the Oscars in 2010.
In the past, the promotion and distribution path for this industry was not chosen correctly, but now low budgets allow proper distribution of Maharati cinema in theatres and through television shows on Zee Marathi TV.
